Just tested and Labels work fine in a 3DD, but as you say, the level dimension is unavailable.

In the library archives, James Murray has a Slab Elevation label (displays either top or bottom elev and relative to project zero, story, etc) and Geoff Briggs / Ben Hruska have a top of wall label. Both worked perfectly in the 3DD for me and responded to changes in the model as expected.

Might be good enough? See:

<T>Is there any way of picking up and 'dimensioning' levels directly in the 3D document window?

The 3d document is an ideal method of communicating a complicated series of 'cascading' wall levels on intersecting walls......but I can find no way of doing so !......Am I missing the obvious (the standard level dimension tool does not work in the 3D document window)?

Please help.....</T>

Thank you Karl, for such a precise & rapid response - most appreciated.

I've downloaded the various dimension/level objects, but am having trouble:

BeArt level tool would be great, but I cannot get meaningful levels to show: The numbers that appear seem to relate to some arbitrary level...

Top of wall tool will not load - if I drop it onto AC16, I am informed of GDL script errors...

Anything I'm missing to get them working?
Not sure, PB. I'm in 16 and simply loaded the Slab Elevation and Top of Wall objects, and they loaded fine... assigned them to walls and slabs in the Label Tool settings, then selected walls and slabs in the 3DD and checked the box to show labels...

If I'm not wrong about the request, use the Section/Elevation mode of the LINEAR DIMENSION tool. Not obvious at first, but absolutely the right one.

Yeh!
Real cool man.
I have a level dim tool that I purchased and like a lot, but it gives goofy numbers in 3DD.
This is a great discovery for me too.
I really like the almost full set of options, with one exception.
I can't seem to control it's exact location except on a node and can't
seem to slide dim along it's axis.
But that's minor.
Thanks Raberto

This all works in 3D Doc BUT I'm finding it doesn't work in "3D Document from Floor Plan"
Anyone else having that issue? Level dimensions in that space pull from the origin point rather than a 3 Dimensional height and the Level Dimension tool doesn't have the option to elevate to a slab. Seems like a oversight on GS's part but maybe I'm missing something.

See this example 3DD reflected ceiling plan, trying to get level dimensions on the ceiling plans that are tied to the slab surface.
