It almost possible... I have made al little tutorial about the tube option of morph because I have many questions of students.
Its in Spanish but you can view without sounds
3D profile extrusions with MORPH tool - possible?

<T>Experimenting with the new MORPH tool, i've noted the 'TUBE' function to extrude a face along a path, however it seems to require selecting face and then the subsequent nodes of the path sequentially and then in straight segments.
Is it possible to predefine the path in space in advance and then extrude face along that path, say by using the magic wand tool?

follow-up:

I see now that you can create curved paths using the TUBE function (not sure why mini-palette didn't pop up before) however, would still prefer to get the path right in advance (including curves/fillets/tangents etc). I can create the face element and 3d 'line'/path seperately, but there doesn't seem to be a way to take it to the next logical conclusion.</T>

It is not possible to currently to predefine the Tube path and then use Maric Wand.
However, some kind of feature like this would be great.
You can make a wish, I know I would support it.

I came across the same same situation while presenting new feature training.
We just assumed it will be possible to use the magic wand . . . .
I second this as a wish and will also vote for it's inclusion asap.
