water/land site model

Hi all,

If there's already a topic on this please point me in the direction, I looked but couldn't find one.

I'm not too good on cad yet, so I need help. My building is right next to a lake and am having trouble trying to model the site. I am using the mesh tool and have done that land, but how do I create the water part of the site, so that when I do a section, it will show the land and the water like if you cut through a section in real life?

If you have modeled the land under the lake with the mesh tool, then you can just place a slab with the top at the water level and the bottom at the lake bottom, then use a Solid Element Operation > Subtraction to subtract the slab from the mesh.

Many thanks! I have created a mesh and slab like you suggested which has all worked well. I then selected the slab (water) as the target element and the mesh (land) as operator element and and tried to subtract, but it is not doing anything. Is there any reason why it would not be working?

I can only think of two things:
1. Make sure the mesh is set to the right-most Construction Method (solid fill under the top mesh plane)
2. If you are using ArchiCAD 9 or earlier (this is why you should include your ArchiCAD version in your posts), you need to rebuilt the section to see the effect of the Solid Element Operation.

I have used this method successfully for swimming pools (pool bult with a mesh, slab for water), so I know it should work.
