I tried 7 zip with no sucess. thanks
Maybe the problem lies elsewhere 7zip decompresses the file but I cannot get it to load to archicad.
Im trying to load as a library part. but archicad 12 fails to recognize this part.
I think library parts should have the extesion"*.gsm" I dont see this extension on the library part after the decompression process by 7zip .
Thanks anyway, by the way im still on windows xp

Modeling HVAC/Electrical without MEP Modeler?

<T>Hello,

I am working for a GC experimenting in BIM 3d visualization. WE want to get a visual idea of how HVAC will work in small projects without paying up for the MEP Modeler addon.

Is this possible/viable, does anyone have tips on modeleing this easily effectively. The only method I can see is using Slabs, but I don't see that working for circular ducts.

Thankyou.</T>

nenglish87,

You could use complex profiles for use with a beam/wall/column etc. to represent the duct work. You may search the forums for multiple references on how to use a complex profile. Start with searching "Complex Profile" in the ArchiCAD help feature.

But the MEP modeler will save you so much time, however, I know money is key and we all have to make choices of what is best for each of us.

You could try the flex-tube object by Olivier Dentan
at his site http://archilib.od.pagesperso-orange.fr/
This free object does rectangular and circular cross section
objects that can be made to follow complicated paths.
Thankyou for the ideas. I will look into complex profiles and I will test out the flexi tube.

but I cannot decompress the files. I tried winzip and jb zip without success.
Can somebody maybe the author can lead to the proper way of downloading these library files?

Not sure why, but my windows vista had no problem extracting/uncompressing the files from that site with its built in compresser. Did you try with 7 Zip?
