i think this user is very new to BIM,

but i hope i can give you some of the concept.

in fact, in my point of view,

the aim of BIM is to let our computer to know the model instead of the 3D model before which only give us to visualize the space, and the computer only know that the model is only boxes with some kind of mapping.

in our traditional 2D and 3D CAD,
what we have is only some digital pen with unlimited paper space which computer can not help us much.

all the works was done manually when BIM was not there, also, the accuracy, productivity is not good because the drawings are drawn, checked by our human eyes. most of the software was not well design specifically for construction.

now, BIM makes good use of computer for constructions. and i think BIM will be the future standard.

p.s. you may find out more answer in the internet!!

Compared with what?

Plain old drafting?

"Getting the summer student to whip up a fancy FormZ model and figure it out later"?

or

Other BIM applications?

which should say “ArchiCAD” is the best to work in “Building Information Modeling”.
Jabe,

You started this thread yesterday. Now, you posted this new message (duplicate) in a new thread - which I have merged back here.

Looking at your other posts, they are not quite spam - but they do not really make any sense. Are you a serious ArchiCAD user, or what. Please give us some background for your question.
are you looking for what's good about BIM in general? Or using Archicad as your tool in creating your model as opposed to some other tool?

Either one is a pretty lengthy discussion. What other sources have you looked at and what basic opinions have you formed already? Much of what we could tell you would repeat information readily available on Google or elsewhere in this forum.

Your best information would come from more specific questions.
