I think Ambient Light is the one.

<T>Hello all,

Is there a way to control the shadow darkness in the 3d window ?
Right now, I feel the shadows in the 3d window are a bit too light.

Can someone please direct me to the shadow settings?

Thanks</T>

I know in AC16 you may have to play around with the actual wall material settings. Specifically in the "Reflection" ( ambient, diffuse, shininess) .
I found the cultured stone( CS03) settings to be set to very dark which led to totally black shadows on the CS03 materials on the shade side of model.
