Not sure if this will answer your question, but...

1. The "NORTH" used in SURVEYOR'S UNITS (Working Units & Levels)... is determined buy the NORTH in the MORE SUN dialog (3d Projection Settings / Project North)...

2. Then, pick a start point and type exactly what you see on your boundary map....

Type "a" to put you into the ANGLE entry box
THEN N 44 36 78 E... The degrees, minutes and seconds signs are not req'd..

THEN "r" for length and type in your length...

Repeat until done... Unfortunately, if your boundary has arc'd propertly lines you will find your self needed to switch back and forth from Surveyors Units to regular angular units...

hope that helps...

Closing property lines is another story...

How do i draw my site by inputting bearings ?

<T>I've seen it done before where you just input the bearing values and lengths and the program draws the block for you but i just dont know how to do it. Now when i input the angle im given, archicad draws a line in a different direction to what i want. basically i need to know hwo to draw a block of land properly using the mesh tool with the exact bearings i have. Anyone know how to do it?

Thanks</T>

baz88,

First, AC will draw 0 degrees due East ( the positive X axis), then increments counter clockwise so North = 90 degrees. If your Civil bearings have 0=North, then subtract 90 degrees to draw the line correctly. I use a spread sheet to convert bearings into AC decimal degrees, it sorts out all the variations that actually point in the same direction; you know the N vs S bearing, etc.

Of course you should also look in the depository, someone may have uploaded a routine for this. The depository can be found at the bottom of the AC Forum Index page.
Not sure how it is for you. In the U.S. surveys and architectural plans use very different systems. For us it's easiest to create the site in a separate project to allow for setting the drawing units and angles to the local surveying standards.

When finished, the site can be used however you wish, by pasting it into the project or using a hotlink.

The Project North setting was moved to Project Preferences > Levels & Project North in ArchiCAD 13.
