When I paste it only shows up as a bunch of random dots. However, when I paste the image into a word file (as a picture) it appears normal. Evidently, what I pasted into 2d was defaulted to "Air Space" which shows as empty fill. I just needed to select the area of the image I pasted and change the fill type.
