I usually keep two running without problems. Might be file size related.

ON PC ! It is not about processor or RAM i think. I have I7, 8 GB RAM. Every time i open the second instance (to copy something from another project) it freezes. Than I have to quit both ArchiCAD instances and open again one instance.
Ac 18 is the most buggy version i've seen ! Please make some updates.

Main culprit on PC is the video card and usually video drivers.

Also there are cases with files that make AC slow down this is usually with migrated projects that were created with 16 or earlier.

Check if opening 2 brand new files in AC cause it to freeze.

I'm seeing the same problem in 18 and no previous problems in 17. Two instances of AC are dysfunctionally slow. One of the files is usually from 17 or earlier so this may be the issue. Seems to me I can hear the hard disk churning away in the background when I try to do this, maybe trying to create more virtual memory? Or something to do with that background file that keeps track of all the Priority Based Connections?

I have a little more RAM than both of you but I currently have open - Firefox, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Windows Explorer, Adobe PDF reader, 2 x Archicad 18, 3 x Archicad 17, 1 x Archicad 15 and 2 by Archicad 12 just for good measure.
18 still feels fast and responsive as if it was the only program open.
They are all only single residences (not huge commercial projects).

All the Archicads show I still have over 8GB of available RAM (except 12 which is showing 4.0 but that is as much as it can use anyway).
Available RAM can be seen in the right hand side of the Status bar if you have that turned on.
YES!
We've been tracking this problem in several places. I had no luck with the IPC fixes, but uninstalling GeForce Experience worked brilliantly for me. This software installs with the NVidia driver seems to be an interface for game display tweaking. It can be uninstalled without affecting the general display at all and totally resolved the multiple ArchiCAD issue for me, even with my wimpy 4 GB RAM.
Many thanks Edcad!

What is your graphics card? If it is a NVIDIA have you tried to uninstall the experience software?
