Matthew.....

You have answered the question regarding the free form modeling tools.....

Yes, I am aware the mesh tool has these capabilities to designate points in space.

Perhaps I need not to think of the tool as being "grounded" as the "typical" use of the tool suggests.

<T>Does a GS AC tutorial exist for defining a point in the Cartesian grid on the z axis ? Then, once defined, user placing a hot spot for three dimensional use at that location. (Mesh tool preferred not to use to define)</T>

Say one has a ten by ten by ten foot cube and want s to define a point, say five feet above, three foot in the x and 2 feet in the y from 0,0 such that one can extend a "line" to this point in space, and then want to repeat this process to define individual points in space so to "create" a free form, is accomplished how ?

Make sense?

There are not freeform modeling tools as such. What you describe can be easily accomplished with the mesh tool. With the tool and mesh selected click inside the mesh (in plan view) and click again in the same spot to create a point. A dialog will indicate you are making new mesh points. Click OK. This point can now be elevated in plan or 3D with the appropriate pet palette tool.
