But you won't get full functionality out of this feature on the Mac until GS enables it for the Publisher.

Angus:

The only way to open an ArchiCAD 12 file in ArchiCAD 10 is to Save As... the 12 file as an 11 file, open that file in 11, then Save As... the 11 file as a 10 file. When you do this, you will get warnings that features available in the later versions will be eliminated as you save backwards. Also, the ArchiCAD 12 (and 11) library will not be able to be read by ArchiCAD 10.
Yes, the Help file will tell you how to save these U3D files.
But, as far as I know (from the Help file) it is a Windows-only feature.

Two pages that may answer it for you:

ArchiCAD (from version 9) supports the Unicode standard:

<S></S>http://www.archicadwiki.com/Font%20Script%20Codes<E></E>

GDL files are Unicode in AC 11 and later:

<S></S>http://www.archicadwiki.com/ArchiCAD%2011#UnicodeGDL<E></E>

I have saved U3D files from the 3D window in AC10 and 11/Mac. Works OK. Not tried yet in 12.

I think the ability to <S></S>include<E></E> U3Ds in Archicad-Published pdfs is Windows-only, but I'm not sure.

Yes, but as said, not with the Publisher. And viewing U3Ds with Adobe Reader is OK on the Mac.
