This might help: look at >3D window settings, >Sun Shadows, turn OFF.

<T>I've just begun working on a fairly simplistic model in ArchiCAD 14 (my first since purchasing the latest piece of software), and have had real issues with the speed in which the 3D window rebuilds itself. I've used a complex profile to create a wall and although its not too complicated it seems to be slowing the model down massively. If I turn the wall layer off it re-builds instantly; surely the complex profile can't slow the re-building that much, or can it? The model is only 3MB...</T>

Unfortunately I tried this already. All shadows are off, and as far as I can see my settings seem to be setup the same as how i'd typically use ArchiCAD 12 (prior to getting 14).

Also, I don't know if it would help, but i'm currently only running 2GB ram on my iMac, and thought that perhaps upgrading to 4GB might solve part of the issue?

Try this:
In View/3D View mode/3D Window Settings/Options and check Ignore 3D hardware acceleration in 3D

another option:
set the Work Environment to the Standard Profile

It's also possible that the CP wall has way more polygons than you think it does. From the Help menu > downloads, get a copy of the Polycount add-on and see how many polygons are in the model / walls.

Cheers,
