I don't know what it is but what I would do is go to the layout view and use the "Move Sub-element" from the pet pallet and move the image around. If the object moves with the image then it's probably in the model space.

Right-click on the affected view and select Open Source View. If the object if visible, maybe you can select it. If not, then maybe it's "attached" to another object. You could either start deleting or moving stuff, especially objects of the same type, and switch back to the affected layouts to see if the object has moved. Use the half/half technique to narrow down the culprit object if it's not attached the first objects tried.

You could also copy and paste the affected layout and see if the error replicates in the copied view. That might mean the view is corrupt. I would open source view again and re-save the view deleting the corrupted one.

Also compare the affected layout settings with non-affected layouts or views and maybe that will reveal something.

Maybe it's an object from another team member? Maybe you'll have to have them join and see if it's something they left behind and didn't release or there is an error and maybe if they resend their changes it will over-write the error.

Just some ideas. Hope you find it.

Unselectable element bug

<T>I have a major bug with an selectable, seemingly non existant object (displayed as a PFC).

Below is a picture that will hopefully help show the issue. On the left is the view shown in the layout while on the right is the view from the model space (detail marker).

In the model space all is as it should be. However, once placed on the layout a random unexplained PFC is shown which cannot be selected individually (so not on the layout itself) but does not appear in the model space even when all layers are turned on.

I'm working in an AC15 teamworks and have un-joined, re-joined, updated the drawing, re-configured the view settings and still no joy. short of resharing the project which I'd rather not keep having to do.

Any help guys???</T>

Could it be that the master layout you are using in this particular case contains a drawing?

No the master is completely empty. In fact I have 30-40 layouts using the master and this 'ghost' element is only present on two that I can see.

As you suggested moved everything in the model space and the ghost PFC moved too. So slowly moved sections until everything was moved away except for the ghost PFC.

It was in the model space after all but was above the cut plane therefore could only be selected by highlighting a large area. Once I had it selected I could then make the base level 0 (it was 5000 something see attached Jpeg) which then meant it was visible. Why you would want to set an object 5000 above 0 in a detail I have no idea but that was the cause.

Thanks for your help

Wow, what a nice collaboration on this one.
So it is not a bug after all. Good to know, and also the techniques used in finding it.
