Ok, I think I get it now.
Thanks Stuart.

I'm doing rendering right now, my OpenGL 3D engine is working, and textures are shown up in the window, however when I turn into Internal Engine, it doen't show any texture.
Nevertheless when I use photorender, even it will show all textures. How come it happens!!!
How can I fix it??? Please help me ASAP!!!!!!
many thanks,,,!!!!</R>

There is no fix! The internal engine doesn't show textures - full stop.

Instead, it can show material surface fills, and also shadows which you don't get in the OpenGL window. It is also to scale, so you can copy the lines to be used elsewhere. The OpenGL is only an 'image' and has no scale.

And the internal engine's output is vectorial, vs OpenGL's bitmapped. Makes for smaller PDFs

Look for Vectorial 3D Hatching in 3D window settings.

(Funny how they're called "Fills" everywhere else)

Thanks Stuart for the tip on "vectorial 3D hatching" "fills".
Helps fill in another piece of this 100k piece puzzle I'm trying to learn.

Peter, (if you don't mind) what do you mean by; "copy the lines to be used elsewhere".
Or maybe I should say; how do you do that?
I went to internal engine and tried to copy lines of the siding I'm using and could not get just lines to copy, only whole wall.
Thanks
Bier

If you go to your Infernal Engine 3D window, draw a marquee around what you want to copy (might be the step that was missing from Peter's explanation) then copy (CTRL-C / CMD-C) and you will get the following dialogue to select options from. Then paste the resulting lines / fills into a 2D workspace (detail window for example; people used to place on plan in the olden days).
hmm, it's not broken... i think you need to understand the differences of using open GL and int. engine as well as the vectorial hatching and texture parameters in the materials pallete (which is where you set what hatch a material will have for 2d elevations for example- this is the hatch that the int engine will show - and what texture it will use for open GL - which is what will show in renders)
Actually I think before I turned on Internal Engine to make a 3D perspective, It shows up every textures(material fills)even in internal Engine.
Now It doesn't show up, so, what i want is i want to see a 3D perspective view with my renders in internal engine.
___
It WILL show any texture (photographic image of the material) in the 3D window
If you render the 3D view using the Lightworks engine then you will see the textures
____

Make sure that you are not mistaking the 3D window display settings (F3 shortcut and menu View -> 3D View Options) with the 3D Rendering settings (under Document -> Creative Imaging -> Photorender Settings and vice versa. One controls how the model looks in the 3D window and the other controls how the 3D is rendered. The confusion might be that you have an Internal Engine for both of these options and what it is called OpenGl in 3D View mode "is called" Lightworks in Photorender Settings.

What i wanna do is I want to show my rendering in internal 3D engine.
I can see them at open gl engine.

the thing is I could see my textures in open gl engine and internal engine as well before. however suddenly it has changed and now I cannot see them.
so I want to fix it up!!!
IF you cannot see Textures with OpenGL or when rendering the problem is that your Library Manager has not loaded the materials.
___
For the 3D window (menu View -> 3D View Options) if you select;
OpenGL will SHOW the Textures
Internal Engine will NOT SHOW the Textures

For Rendering Output (under Document -> Creative Imaging);
Lighstcape will SHOW the Textures
Sketch will NOT SHOW the Textures
Internal Engine will NOT SHOW the Textures
___
If you want to show Textures in the 3D window using Internal Engine, it will NEVER happen. The Internal Engine NEVER has had the ability to show textures in the 3D Window.

There is nothing to FIX everything is working as it should be.
_____
If you edited a material (with Material editor) and didn't specify correctly the engine (Lightworks, Internal) you might have problems for it to show up.
If for that edited material the texture is not loaded (File->Library Manager) the texture will NOT be shown.
If you removed the texture from the edited material it will not show up.
If you need to import the materials from another file use Attribute Manager.
If the texture you assigned to the material is too big 50Mb+ size it will have trouble.
If the format of the texture is incompatible it will not be shown
If the texture is on a library on a server and you don't have access to it, it will not be shown.
If you want the texture to show the Vectorial Hatch on the renderer you have to be sure that the texture has a Vectorial Hatch and that you have selected the correct engine.
If the texture is on a folder and you move the texture out of it, it will not be shown.

Ben wrote:
I'm really confused now,
Actually I think before I turned on Internal Engine to make a 3D perspective, It shows up every textures(material fills)even in internal Engine.
Now It doesn't show up, so, what i want is i want to see a 3D perspective view with my renders in internal engine.

what can i do?

This has never been possible to do. You could not have seen textures in the 3D Window using Internal Engine.
So wanting to see the 3D window like your renders using internal engine is never going to work.

You can do the following:

- do the rendering view
- do the Internal engine hidden line view
- overlay them in the layout, with the hidden line view in front, with the transparent background

There - you have the rendering textures, and the crisp outlines.
