Sorry, can't edit my last post. It is a set of drawings done in autocad. I am training right now. One hurdle is to create a roof that is an arc. In autocad, 2d, just draw an arc on the elevation to represent the arc roof. I want to use Archicad to create a roof that is an arc.

Is this a technical or conceptual roof?

How editable does it need to be?

Exactly how curvy/arched will it be?

I am trying to create a roof that is curved, starting at about 10' high at low end and arching to about 20' high at the high end. One continuous arc, that is a roof.

Yup. Complex profile - EJ is right.

You'll draw the curved roof section as the complex profile.
Then us it as a wall.
See the manual
Use the Vaulted roof tool as explained here:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/archiguide_ar ... roofs.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/archiguide_archive/ArchiGuide_Online_6o/issue15/roofs.html</LINK_TEXT>

If the smoothness of the arc is necessary, create the Custom Profile of the roof (the said arc plus thickness) and create the "roof" with the wall tool.

In view of the smoothness and instant editing of the complex profile, is the roof tool approach valid now? Especially since the arc can never go negative and the complex profile can go anywhere?

Are there any advantages to the roof for this geometry?

And all words come from the Greek.

Creating a curved roof is fairly easy, but what I'm missing is what kind of curved roof? Is this a dome or just an arc extruded in a straight line? Does it need to be perfectly smooth, or can you tolerate visible segments?

If it's a dome that can tolerate visible segments, there's a link that was posted that covers it, <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/archiguide_ar ... roofs.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/archiguide_archive/ArchiGuide_Online_6o/issue15/roofs.html</LINK_TEXT>

For all the others, the simplest way to do it is to use a complex profile, as has been suggested. It took me a little while to get used to the complex profile, but just need to keep a few things in mind about it. First, the design in the complex profile is the section view, and will be extruded either vertically (columns) or horizontally (wall/beam). Secondly, the section needs to be a fill, and you set the material properties of that fill.

Visit the other posted link, <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.archicadwiki.com/Creative%20 ... 20Profiles">http://www.archicadwiki.com/Creative%20Uses%20of%20Complex%20Profiles</LINK_TEXT>, for a more in depth coverage of the complex profile tool.

In case you haven't been able to find where the complex profile editor is stored, it's in the Options --> Element Attributes --> Profile Manager

Hope it helps.
