topic Custom Door Slab - editable?? in Modeling

<R>I've created a custom door using slabs, saved it as a custom component/door, and placed it successfully in my project. I need to edit this door slightly. Do I have to go to my original slab and edit that, then save it again, or is there a way to edit the part? I've opened the object and can see a 3D preview of it, but I can't seem to edit it.

BTW, GDL code is not my cup o' tea, so even if you can somehow edit the slab by altering the code, that is out of my area of expertise.

Thanks</R>

Yes.

When you create objects via 'save as', be sure to always keep the original bits and pieces around for when you need to edit things.

Note, too, with your custom door that ArchiCAD will squish or stretch your custom door panel to fit the size of the door that you use it with. This may or may not be acceptable. So, if aspects of your custom panel geometry are supposed to be particular sizes or ratios, you will have to create a separate panel for each sized door that the panel will be used with to avoid distortion.

Cheers,
Ahhh, ok, thank you.
Because slabs can only be constructed in floor plans, these "bits and pieces" will have to be "floating" around the model, correct? On a non-plot layer of course...

You're welcome. Yes, either use a special layer for these things, or you can save them as module (MOD) files, delete the content and then just merge them in when you need them again. Personally, I do this pretty rarely, so just use a special layer. If the custom panels are used in other projects, each of which might customize further, then using modules can be helpful.

Cheers,
