How do you create a parallel view? I've never done that before.

<T>We have a half-hipped-roof 44.5 degree angle. The south side should get In-roof solarpanels and skylights.

I need to send in a plan from our roof for a company who does solarpanels and skylights.

Of course I have the elevations from south and west which basically fully describe the roof.

However I need to create a top view plan of the roof. NOT a footprint but as if the observer would float in the air and look onto the roof from a 44.5 Degree angle.

I tried to add an elevation marker in the westelevation. But the created elevations remains empty.

How can I do that?
Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help.</T>

Select the roof in floor plan, right click, Show selection/marquee in 3d.

Use axonometry. Got to Parallel Projection Settings, choose isometric axonometry

In the 3d window use Look to perpendicular of Clicked Surface

Right click anywhere outside the roof surface, Capture Window for 3d Document.

You can now set up this 3d document view as you would any section or elevation and add dimension, text, etc etc

Good luck!

I'd like to do the same thing, but the procedures aren't working for me. I'm using Archicad 16 on a Mac platform. I can select the roof in 3D, show selection/marquee in 3D. Go into View, 3D View Options, select isometric axonometry, go to View, 3D Navigation Extras, Look to perpendicular of clicked surface, and nothing happens.

Select the roof element in THE FLOOR PLAN VIEW.

Then make a parallel view [set up beforehand] - to image only the selected roof plane.

Then use the command "view perpendicular" and click on the plane.

The element will rotate appropriately.

Then save the view as Erwin says.

There's nothing like the simplicity of the help file in addressing this matter.
Unfortunately, it seems lacking.

View>3D View Options> 3D Projection Settings.

You toggle modes.
