<T>Any way you can select an entire layer?

For example, instead of selecting (lets say the walls tab) and using a simple 'control A' to select all the walls.. is there any way you can select your layer that may consist of multiple different objects such as a layer consisting of both lines and fills or walls and roofs and so on.

I ask this because more often than not I usually end up using a lot of lines and fills to edit my elevations. Doing this, I will put all my lines that I use to touch up my roof, for example, on one layer. And when I go into test printing to check line weights it'd be nice if there was an easier way to select all my roof lines to change the line weight instead of reselecting each line 1 by 1.

Thank you in advance!!</T>

You can also use the Quick Layers Palette to isolate one or more Layers. Window > Palettes > Quick Layers OR select an element on the desired Layer(s) and go to Document > Layers > Layer Extras > Hide Others.

Hey i got a question for this topic.

Is there a possbility to bind some shortcut for "Select Objects on Layer" ?
I cant find anything in shortcut menu

F&S is a good way but its slow in workflow. I wanna select an Object in 3D hit a combo and it should select all objects in the layer.

Find & Select is the only way.
Remember you can store the criteria for later use and you can export/import stored criteria to other files as well.

Other than the Quick options method of hiding all other layers and then select all (CTRL+A)

You can - if - you have made a Layer Combination with the Layers the Objects are on. Otherwise, you can select the Object icon in the Toolbar and use Ctrl-A, to select All Objects. Ctrl-A works like this for selecting all of anything you select in the Toolbar. If you don't want to use the Ctrl-A shortcut, you can Select the Objects icon (for example) in the Toolbar then Edit, and Select All Objects from the pop-up Edit menu.

Did you place the DWG file as a Drawing? Or did you use the XREF functionality?
If you placed it as a Drawing then you will not be able to select individual elements within the Drawing, only the Drawing as a whole. You would have to explode the Drawing to then be able to select individual elements from the DWG file.

So it is a DWG file that you have converted to an Archicad PLN.
If that is the case the above methods as explained in the previous posts are how you select all elements in a layer.
Essentially use the Find & Select palette and set two criteria for 'Element type is ALL types' and 'Layer name is ???'.
Then you click the '+' button and all elements in the layer you listed in the criteria will be selected.
Yes, you add as many criteria as you need to select the elements you want.
When you ADD a criteria, there is a search box where you can type key words (like layer) and it will list all the relevant options you can choose from.
It saves you manually searching through the list.
