topic object behavior in Modeling

<T>Is there a way, such as a script edit, to have an object behave and enable mercedes cursers on the sides of the object similar to lines, slabs, fills, etc? I started to use the "column grid marker NCS" object symbol but when i want to reference a distance from the column line I can only do it by zooming out to the hotspots of the object. Is this by any chance a new feature in AC9.0?</T>

Eric,
Check under the help menu, there is a whole section dedicated to GDL.
You will find the answer to your question in there.
Cheers.
as ben said - check the GDL manual. you are looking for the HOTLINE2 command in particular (i think!). it enables any such line defined in the object to behave as a snappable line (just as a normally drawn line) in the working window.

there is also HOTARC2, as well as the traditional HOTSPOT2 . . . when do we get a HOTFILL2 graphisoft?
Probably just after HOTTAMALES2, HOTMEATPIE2, & HOTCHICK2.
