John,
you can use an object from the standard AC Library (in my case INT):
Steel Structures15 / Steel Beams15 / CHS Cold-Formed Beam15...and set wall thickness to nearly half of the diameter (dia=180mm, wall=89.9mm) to obtain a solid profile.

<T>Hi Everyone,

Can anyone make a recommendation on how to best model simple (cylindrical) "log" rafters? The tops are plumb cut, but the tails are square cut.
I'm currently using angled beams with a custom profile, but the tops are healing themselves oddly (see attached screengrab), and the tails are plumb, which I can SEO as necessary.

Thank you!

Hi there!
Thanks for your response- that looks like it would do just what I am after- but I don't have those library parts, and haven't been able to find them. Is the library you are using an add-on, or am I perhaps looking in the wrong place? I have steel beams, but nothing round in section; I also have round steel column shapes, but they can't be angled, as far as I can tell. I am using AC Library 16.
Thanks again,
If you are using ArchiCAD 16 library, then you are using ArchiCAD 16. You should correct your signature.

Then try downloading those object from BIMComponents.com:
