topic Stairs in Hotlink linked to file with more stories, display issues in Modeling

<T>We have a project where the story settings in the Hotlink are different than in the file it is linked to. The floors have a difference of about 6 inches from file to file for one of the stories.

I am sure there might have been a better way. Here we are today.

The stair in the file goes a single flight.
The issue is when this stair is showing in the host file due to the difference of the floor height, it is then showing more stories than in the source file it is modeled and set up in. In the source file, there is a top and bottom. In the host file, there is a top, middle and bottom showing for the settings. Yet the stair cannot be changed as it is in a linked file. And when you are in the source file, there is no way to get to the middle setting of the stair.

How might we change the stair settings? Copy the stair into another 3 story file, set the cut settings.

i shall post pictures of the floor plan displays in following posts.</T>

This is the view of how we want the stair to look. This is in the source file.

This is how the stair is appearing in our linked file of the overall floor plan of the project.
Notice how the stair is showing as starting and not finishing.

This is somehow set in the stair settings but we are unable to change it in the source file.
Temporarily modify the stair in the module to extend over three stories, set the middle display then change it back to two stories. Using a break ark set by tread number rather than FPCH is also probably a good idea in this situation.

Though, that fact that you are getting <S></S>stair top<E></E> rather than <S></S>stair bottom<E></E> might indicate that your linked home story does not match?

Thank you Ling for the suggestion.

yes our stories between the 2 files do not align. We did this to help the junior team members model items to the correct elevation.

I shall also try out the idea of stair cut by number of stairs versus using the FPCH.

I mean, the story heights may not match, but does the story structure match? G to G, 1 to 1, R to R?

Yes, our G from hotlink matches that of the G in the host file.
