Hi.

Check these posts by Jared Banks over at bimengine blog, and the other ones regarding pen sets. He talks about this issue.
Section: Cut lines and lines between elements

<T>Hi all:
Something that has been a bother for a while now. I've searched the forum and haven't found the exact answer or solution to this problem.

When drawing a detailed section, as shown below, how are you all handling your pen sets to properly represent the elements in section. In this example I have separate slabs as the finish and subfloor, and separate elements representing shallower joists and deeper perimeter beams. Obviously, when in section, this is showing every element with its pink cut lines, making for a rather sloppy representation of an architectural section. Now, when looking at the section without true line weight turned on, there is a difference between the boundary lines (thick pink) and the internal lines (thin pink). It seems there is not a way to have a boundary lines be shown as thick with the lines separating elements as thin...so how do you handle it? I cannot come up with a good way beyond overriding the fills in model view options so everything is white, and then drawing the detail in 2d. At a building scale of 1/4", this kind of detail should be visible, but manually drawing all this detail seems a bit...autocad-like.

It's an easy fix by using composite slabs and walls, but often times the section is far too complex for this type of representation.

What is your strategy?</T>

There is an existing documented wish for a feature to have such contour control. I have added comments from this post to that wish.
