<T>I get this popup on my windows laptop from time to time.
How or why is the Archicad codemeter FAB running low on disk space? What does this mean? I have no idea WHY would there be ANY disk space to run low on in the FAB key that's connected to the laptop to run Archicad?
Please advise.</T>

It is possible to disable this warning in Windows:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-ti ... s-7-vista/">http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/disable-low-disk-space-notification-alert-in-windows-7-vista/</LINK_TEXT>

But do it only if are confortable modifying the Registry.

Unfortunately, various site state that it is not possible to disable it only for a single drive, only for all drives.

why am I even getting such a message? this key is "NOT" a storage device. It simply does not compute for me.

I'm not at all comfortable with messing with a windows "registry" file. One wrong period (a dot) somewhere and poof...there goes your whole rebooting onto the windows environment.....forget that.

Why does this message even show up?

Rob

Give this a try mate.
Hit the little show hidden icons (triangle) button on your task bar and go to
customize.
You'll see the codemeter control center in the icons list.
change the setting to Hide icon and notifications.
Thats the setting for it in Win 7 anyways.
(Those things annoy the sh*t out of me too)

The CM key looks like an external drive (with a tiny amount of storage). By default, it will show up in Windows Explorer as a disk drive. Mine shows as having 0 bytes free out of 38.5 MB.

No different than plugging your Garmin GPS, MP3 player, etc... all look like external drives. So, the disk cleanup / defrag / etc stuff warns that there's almost no space left. Your 'hard drive' is not trying to clean up things (storage devices don't do things)... the Windows OS (or a 3rd party utility) is... Safe to ignore.
