David thanks!
i used the stair tool to make a stair. is this considered an object?
the same applies to morphs? i tried to make the stair a morph and i had the same results.
if i understand correctly the building materials only aplies to walls, slabs columns .. and not objects and morphs or library parts?

can you please help with the seo? should i add a stair to the slab?

thanks again.

AchillesGr:

Have you tried SEO (Solid Element Operation)? If the stair is an Object, Objects don't use Building Materials.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Yes.
Information about element intersections can be found in the Help files at: Elements of the Virtual Building > Construction Elements > Element Intersections > Basic Intersection Principles.
Select the Slabs, set as Operator. Select the stair, set as Target. Set the Operation to Subtraction. Click the Execute button. (The Operators and Targets could be reversed in this case.)

Thanks for adding the signature.
