when i use the grid in special construction to do a SEO operation it inherits the operator properties fine but if i use a column or a beam it does not inherit the color of the beam or column even if i override the model ... what im i missing</T></DIV>

Read about Priority Based Connections (PBC). Because of PBC, the Column already cuts its shape out of the Wall. So when you perform an SEO with the Wall as Target, Column as Operator, it is actually not executed since there is no intersection between them, PBC has already cut out the Column from the Wall, so the cut surface can not be inherited from the Column.<BR />
However, if the Column is on a Layer with a different Intersection Number, PBC does not occur, and then you can SEO Subtract the Column it from the Wall, and the cut surface can be inherited from the Column.
