Hi,
if you don't need a permanent solution, the objects are few and you don't want AC to freeze while working then set 3D detail parameter to none on those objects so they will have no 3d (no section, no elevation....) and, at last minute, reset it.

<T>I would like to "Filter & Cut" only certain objects (ie not All Objects). Some objects have a lot of polygons and it would be useful to filter and cut these but leave others on while working.

Under View-->Elements in 3D View--> Filter & Cut Elements in 3D View

there is the option to do this for All Objects, I want to do it for specific objects.

Any ideas?</T>

you may wanna try doing a "layer combo" and/or a "find and select" specific elements, then save those settings and always use them whenever you'd want to filter out information 'before' you do a 3D selection marquee is what comes to mind initially.
Let us know what works best for you once you find something you like.
