Curved Pivot Line - Roof Tool

<T>I'm trying to create a roof with a curved pivot line. In principle it's a simple construction - the pivot line is a single arc with the same 30 degree sloping profile to both sides (see attached image). In the image attached I've used a complex profile wall, but I would prefer to use the roof tool if it's possible??

I found a historic thread from 2008 here that suggests faceting the roof in to wedges - I just would have expected an easy way to do this (unless I've overlooked something)?

Thank you for your help.
Try the Shell tool instead.

Edit: <LINK_TEXT text="https://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guide ... d_profile/">https://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guides/archicad-20/archicad-20-reference-guide/elements_of_the_virtual_building/construction_elements/shells/revolved_shells/revolved_shell_with_freely_defined_profile/</LINK_TEXT>

Here is an excellent explanation of how you could achieve this with shell. It will use the exact same composite structure as your roof. You can place skylights, etc.

You might want more segments on the curve it will generate, though, which might be a reason to make all the roof segments instead.

Check the attached image for the steps to achieve this:

1. Draw the desired Roof Pivot Line using lines and arcs. Make sure it is a closed polyline. (Or, you may have the geometry already modeled using Walls.)
2. Using the Magic wand, create a Multi-plane Roof based on the drawn lines and arcs.
3. Click the 2 end Pivot Line segments and use the "Custom Plane Settings" command of the Pet Palette to convert them to Gable segments.

The number of Roof Plane segments generated within the Multi-plane Roof depend on the Magic wand settings.
Use the "Linear Segment" option on the right and set your desired resolution on the left. As you can see the Roof generated in the upper right corner of the image has a higher resolution than the Roof below it. It was generated with higher Magic Wand resolution settings.

P.S.: You could also just draw a rectangular Multi-plane Roof pivot line, then edit its shape using Pet Palette commands, but I think it would take more time.
