<T>I have encountered what I believe to be a bug in the plan display of the railing tool.

If you use the option for a profiled railing, and the profile you use is not centred around the origin, the railing will 'split' in plan at the ends / change in vertical plane. The 3D will still be ok though.</T>

Following on from the above, I've also discovered that it doesn't interpret the end display correctly if a negative value is entered.
Upon further investigation, it seems this happens regardless of positive or negative end setting. It has more to do with it raking - foreshortening is not taken into consideration for the plan projection.

Hello Bruce,

After looking at your file, and doing some tests of our own, we could confirm all the things you said as bugs. We will try to fix them as soon as we can.

The main problem was caused by a complex profile that was not centered on it's origin, but had an offset to it. This caused various problems in the corners in floor plan (the profile was mirrored in the corners, and in some cases because of this, it couldn't even be generated in 3D). A workaround for this issue might be making the profile centered, and set an offset for the whole handrail instead. Of course this can't be done with a toprail, but you can just get rid of the toprail, and place a handrail on top instead.

I hope you will be able to get along with this suggestion until we can fix the problem.

Kind Regards,

I should point out that the complex profile only creates the crank in plan: the normal profile (i.e. Rail 21) will still have issues with plan not aligning with 3D on raking ends; and curved corner junctions disappearing when joining a raking portion within a certain distance.

(This should all be under case #239955.)

Cheers
