Thanks Barry... i did try your solution... but nothing happend.
The principal focus is to open a EDU file in commercial program...
I can't figurite out why not (i think it will).
any other strategy?

Barry wrote:
Old Archicad 8.1 files can not be opened in version 18 - even the commercial version.
To do this you need the version 10 file convertor that you can find in the downloads section on the Graphisoft website.

However you may still be in trouble because the educational (student version) back from 8.1 may not be compatible with the commercial versions - I can't remember now.
I do know that an EDU version now can only be opened as an EDU file even on the commercial version (it will automatically change from the commercial license top the educational license).

So I am not sure if you are going to have much luck with this.
I did work with archicad 8.1 student edition (pnl files).
I purchase a newer version (Archicad 18) i want to open the files pnl with archicad 18, but i can't do it...
I did search in the official graphisoft converters, but no result...
Anybody know how to do that?
AC 8.1 EDU (2002) files (PNE) are not compatible with newer EDU versions either since the format was changed around AC10 (2006).

EDU and commercial project files will have the same file format ( .PLN ), but EDU files have an irremovable logo at the top right corner. This logo will be present on all printouts. Because the new EDU file format is the same as the full, the Archicad 10 EDU version are NOT compatible with the previous educational versions and does NOT read (˛ .PNE , .PAE …) files created with earlier educational versions.

Thanks ejrolon:

In my student's year i use archicad 8,1 edu.
Very good...
Recently i purchased a commercial version 18 of archicad.
Simply i want to convert that old files 8,1 in archicad 18. That's all.
My recommendation is to get in touch with your reseller to see what can be done if anything. AC8.1 is a 13 year old program and the PNE format has been obsolete for almost 10 years.
