<T>Does anyone have any experience of using Archicad Start Edition?

What features are disabled?

We have an office with 15 full licenses where project collaboration is important and a smaller office where Archicad could be used on stand alone projects (Powercad currently used in the smaller office).</T>

From what I understand, it's not that features are disabled, it's more like it's Archicad 8.1 being sold under a new name. If that's truly the case, then:

Since Archicad 10 was a massive improvement over AC9 (AC9 was a pretty minor upgrade, but did introduce a serious new rendering engine and some better text formatting functions), I cannot imagine a situation where I would recommend Archicad 8.1 over Archicad 10 where the cost savings of the cheaper initial purchase would be larger than the value of the time saved from the newer functions.

We're not talking about an Autocad LT situation where for 1/4 the price, you get most of the drafting functions you need with a couple zingers (like placing bitmaps) to try to get you to buy the full-priced version. . With Archicadt Start Edition, we're talking about an older technology being sold at discount prices.

Looking over Link's link I have a few comments:
I love that it can only read up to AutoCad 2000... a lot of people still use that, right?
I also wonder, what is "limited" tech support? Does that mean that only the guys who remember AC8.1 will help?
No hotlinked modules or Teamwork? Ouch. I really hope that's a typo.
Legendary ease of use? Uhhh..... no. AC9 was the "ease of use" release.
