Problem exploding objects in 17 & 18 (elevations)

<R>In version 17 & 18 I am having trouble exploding objects that have been placed in an elevation.

If the object (for example a note object or a 2D detail) is placed in an elevation it can not be exploded in either 17 or 18.
The option to "Explode into current view" is greyed out.
The reference guide clearly infers that it can be done ...

Choosing Edit > Reshape > Explode into Current View will turn selected elements (Floor Plan and other 2D windows only) into 2D drawing primitives (Lines without arrowheads, Circles, Arcs, Elliptic arcs, Splines, unframed Fills, single‐line Texts).

•GDL Objects are decomposed into basic 2D drawing elements

In 16 and before if the object was placed in an elevation it could be exploded there.
If it was a 3D object placed in plan and showing in elevation it was a case of copy & paste it in the elevation and the paste would be exploded lines.
This method still works in 17 & 18 if it is a 3D object being viewed in elevation.
But not if it is an object placed in the elevation - it simply copies the object and that copy still can not be exploded.

Am I missing something and there is an easy solution? (other than copying the object to the floor plan and exploding there then copy & paste back to the elevation).
Or is this an issue I should report to Graphisoft?

Barry, I get the same behavior as you. Worked in AC16, doesn't work in AC18.
I don't see a workaround besides the one you gave.
I will report this to Graphisoft.

Hi All,
This bug is already in our database and it has been fixed in ArchiCAD 18. (not in AC 17) It will become part of an upcoming AC 18 Update.
Until the update it is recommended to use the workaround that Barry mentioned ("copying the object to the floor plan and exploding there then copy & paste back to the elevation")

If it's a pure 2d object you might be able to copy paste the actual 2d linework from the object's 2d symbol too (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + O to open object).

That might be faster, unless you resized the proportions.

It has been fixed in build 5515, so it is not part of the 5100 build just yet! Planned for Update 3. Thanks for your patience.
