If you are using multiplane roof, try looking at the Trimming Body and its settings in the roof dialog. To show trimming bodies: View > On Screen View Options > Trimming Bodies

Sometimes it's easier to make more complex roof combinations with good old single plane roofs (I actually prefer them for a number of reasons having to do with texture/hatch allignment, CTRL/CMD clicking edges to connect roofs, etc).

<T>I'm currently practicing work with roofs right now and I've encountered an annoying problem. The roof below the dormer cuts away my first floor wall every time i try to put the roof in the correct location. What is causing this? I have no relations between that roof and the first floor of the house so why would it be taking that away?</T>

Thank for the tip Erwin!

I also realized that I had changed my wall size but not the story size of the roof, so when i dragged my roof down to meet the walls, it started to pick up as the first floor instead of the second. I don't know if changing that will fix the problem or not, as i haven't tried it yet. If my solution attempt doesnt work i will definitely give yours a shot!

Thanks, Ben

I love using multi-plane roofs when I can. However, like Erwin, I usually end up using the "old" single plane method as well.
