Hello,

Is there a reasonable way of explaining why a circle cannot have a DIRECT fill in Archicad? Thanks.

When you draw a fill as a circle its possible.
Use your pallet to draw a cirle with the fill tool.

Am I missing something with this, I currently draw a circle with the circle tool then magic wand the fill & delete the circle!
So whats the trick to cut out the first step?

If you use the Polygon geometry method the Pet Palette pops up with the various arc creation methods. I find it easier just drawing a circle and using the magic wand.

That is a useful tip, however, there are times when you need to draw a circle from a known centre point. The fill method requires a start point on the circumference. I have always used the circle and magic wand method.

I wish the super talented programmers at Graphisoft could just give us a simple "one-step" circular fill tool. How hard could that be?

If you know the center of the circle and the radius (let's say 1000 mm), then move your cursor to the center point, type "X1000+" to input the point on the circumference, then use the Pet Palette method shown in the video to create the Circle shaped fill.

If only a fill (and other elements) could magic wand to a guide circle.
"M" (measure), click centre, type in distance (radius) and mark location to get the guide circle.
Now magic wand the fill on the guide - no need to delete a temporary circle.
Shame it doesn't work.

Another approach on PLAN would be to use the column tool and if you need it in 2D then explode it.

You can also make donuts with one click using this method which takes even longer using the polygon tool.

I agree it would be handy to have a "circle" with variants option available in the FILL and SLAB toolboxes. Wish list...

Mankind has been drawing circles for ages from its middle point.
This options is missing in de pett pallete.

I think we are talking about two different things.
I think you are making a wish for the Fill Tool, while I am giving solutions for the existing state of the Fill Tool.

But yes, there could be more options for the Fill Tool. Actually, the Fill Tool could have all the geometry methods that any of the linear tools (Line, Arc/Circle/Ellipse, Spline) have, with the added bonus that a Fill is generated within the closed boundary.
You can make a wish, so people can vote for it and we can submit it for Graphisoft's consideration.

But I am encouraging you to make a wish, there is a lot of stuff that can be improved upon. And when a wish is submitted and people give it high votes and support Graphisoft knows that many of its users would find it useful, which make it more probably that it will be implemented in the future.
