topic Morph Tube and origin & other questions in Modeling

<T>I'm just getting familiar with the morph tool (yes it's been out a while).

1. What I'm having trouble with is redefining the origin of the tube command. I've made a little thumb molding and I'm trying to chase that around the edge of a wood panel. I click the face of the molding to invoke the tube command, then click to a corner which I would like the origin to be. It keeps the origin at the location on the face where I initially clicked. Ideas?

2. Can you combine morphs? If I've got two morphs (for instance I put a hip raised panel onto a flat panel) and I want them to be one and get married in holy matrimony, can you do that? Simply selecting them both and saying convert to morph doesn't seem to work.

Thanks,</T>

Ad. 1:
When you tube a morph you'll have to double click it at the end.

Ad. 2:
To combine two morphs use 'Design -> Modify Morph -> Union'.
First select one morph, then select 'Union' and then select the other morph.
You can still push/pull and tube them separately.

Thanks for the reply.

I understand I have to double click it at the end. What I seem to be having trouble with is redefining the origin of the tube stretch. I click the face I want to tube, then I'm supposed to be able to (after starting the tube command) click on another area on that face. In my example I clicked on a corner hotspot. It doesn't reset the origin though.

I don't know what you mean exactly with 'then I'm supposed to be able to (after starting the tube command) click on another area on that face'.

When you click on the face to tube it you can give direction of your tube.

Yes, you can give the direction, but lets say you are turning a corner. you want to be able to tell the morph where the "turning point" is.

Ah, I see what you mean!

Made video example:
Morph-tube

Because you're pulling it on the face you can't pin-point the edge.
I thinks it's easier to do this with the profile manager.

With a profile you can draw the thumb molding around the panel like a line.

Made a video example:
Thumb molding on panel

Wauw, this is cool!
Tried it myself but I can't get it to work
When I click the surface with the magic stick it pops back.

It's strange. It's only working in one direction.
I made video from a morph box with some morph profiles.
HI Dontknow. Are the profiles you are trying to "tube" in full contact with the Morph box?
Off topic; which software are you using to make the videos? I will try and put up a demo.

I thought of that too.
Yeah, they are in contact with the box.
Even when I push the profiles a bit into the box I get the same reaction.

Software I'm using is 'Microsoft Expression Encoder 4'.
It's a part of 'Microsoft Expression Studio 4'.
