<T>Been using ArchiCAD for years and have a problem, glitch etc. that Ive never encountered before. Out of the blue the Door Selection Settings (Command + T) will not work for certain doors. Works for all windows, objects, walls, lines etc.. but for some reason if I select certain doors it won't open.

The door shows up in the plan view, elevations, 3D etc. no problem. I can edit (somewhat) via the info box but unfortunately can't fully edit like normal in the door selection settings box because it simply does not come up. Some doors do come up.. others no.

Any ideas?

FYI Im still using ArchiCAD15.. I know I know I need to upgrade..

Appreciate any suggestions.</T>

If I understand your suggestion - You are asking if I have tried this button within the info box for a particular door that won't open up in door selection settings. Answer no, don't seem to have that button within the info box.

Thanks for your reply.
Here is the info box of a door that won't open.
In your screen shot, in the upper left corner of the Info Box is an icon of a door, clicking on this should open the Door Settings dialog box. In this same panel is the text "Default Settings" which indicates that there is currently no door selected (this will change to "Selected: 1, Editable: 1" when a door is selected).

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
David,

Appreciate the reply! Unfortunately Ive tried that icon with no results. When the icon is clicked nothing happens. Its very odd.

As mentioned this only happens with certain doors - not all. So when I select a door that I am not having issues with and hit that icon you suggest, door selection settings comes up.

Some more info to ponder... One of the doors Im having issues with is called "D1 Entrance 15". If I open up door settings (via a door that this works with) and go to a default "D1 Entrance 15" door, select it and place it into my model it behaves like it should.. I can bring up Door settings like normal (Cmd + T).. but if I steal the properties for the door having issues and inject those properties into that door it won't work. Seems something is corrupt with my original doors? Yet they worked before? This is occurring on all projects - not just one.

Any other thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.. So frustrating not being able to further edit doors on these projects.
Do you have the latest update (hotfix) for 15?

I was thinking it may be the settings dialogue has been moved off screen so you can't see it.
But then this would be the same for all doors not just some.
maybe try loading a default Work Environment?
Jevon:

I would be suspicious that a door is not selected, since this works for some doors. When you have the door selected, does "Default Settings" change to "Selected: 1, Editable: 1" in the Info Box? You can also try the Edit Selection Set... command to see if anything is selected (Edit > Element Settings > Edit Selection Set). If none of this helps, then try posting a screen shot of the selected door, maybe someone will have another idea.

Thanks for adding the signature.
Thanks for the replies.

Barry, I don't believe I do have the latest hot fix... Unfortunately when I tried to download them I didn't have the correct Java it wanted and can't download the the version it wanted since my version is newer. Thus not sure how I go about downloading that hot fix. An obvious issue of not staying current with archiCAD.

When I open a default work environment there are no issues. Doors open as they should. I assumed this would happen however as I can put a basic - default unaltered door into my model and it will open without issue. So this would lead me to think that something happened with certain doors that make them unable to be opened in the Door selection settings box. I don't understand what happened and why they are behaving fine in every other aspect of ArchiCAD.

David, Ive verified that the door is selected. As soon as I select a door it immediately is recognized in the info box. Ive also gone into "Edit Selection Set" and verified it was there.

I don't know what else to do beyond starting over with the certain doors that don't want to open and modify them as I want like the others had been. Doesn't make sense but thats the only way around this that I can think of.

Just a few more ideas (no guarantees). One issue could be that you are using AC15 with OSX10.10, so upgrading AC or going back to the OS that was current when AC15 was released are two (difficult and/or expensive) options.

You could try placing a Hotspot at a problematic door, deleting it, and placing a new (hopefully) working door in its place. You could also try Merging the problematic model file into a new blank working template file, but this will transfer only the model, any 2D/annotation would have to be copied separately.

There is no hidden setting, it looks like a bug in this file. Good luck.
Yes could very well be running AC15 with the latest OS. I did just recently update the OS so maybe that has something to do with it.

I know Im going to have to just bite the bullet soon and get current on AC - have just been avoiding that expense for the past couple years.

Thanks again for your help/suggestions
Is it just in the one file? If so try a new and reset
File>New and simultaneously hold down the alt (pc) or option (mac) key
You will then have this option available.

It will open a new file in place of the one you had open. It will not hurt any AC file.

I have had the same troubles. I think it might be the fact that I am trying to use old, version 7.0, objects, such as doors and windows, with my current version 16.0 of ArchiCad. When I update the doors and windows to the current version, everything is fine. And it has only happened to doors and windows for me.
