<T>I just finished very preliminary designs in AC23 and want to use it in AC24 with the AC24 template. The reason is that I've customised previous templates and want to again try to use it with the standard supplied template. Might as well go to AC24.</T>

I am not sure what your question is here.

You can open the 23 file in 24, but of course it will be the same as it was in 23 - it won't be based on any new 24 template.

Or you can copy and paste the model into a 24 template.
But be aware that existing attributes may change if the two files don't match and any 'new' attributes from the 23 file that don't exist in the 24 file will simply be created.

If you are worried about attribute contamination, then your only real choice is to start modelling again from scratch in the 24 template.
But if you do not mind any new attributes being created (they may not be if the 2 templates have the same origins - i.e. you created them yourself or they both come from GS), then just copy and paste the model into the 24 template.
