<T>Hi!
Im pretty new with ArchiCad. I want to make a stair. I found a way to do it. A draw the outline with the fill tool and then I made the line of travel with the line tool. But when I hit the "create stair using selection" this message shows up:

"Line of endpoints must not connect to adjacent edges or nodes of the fill polygon"

Is it not possible to make a stair like mine (see attached photo) that is turning around one specific spot. It seems weird since stairs like this are very common in real life.

Hopefully someone can tell me what Im doing wrong</T>

Maybe it's the shape of your staircase which is the problem and you're missing a 'line of travel'.

Here is a YouTube video how to do it: youtube

melanslag,
You have your line of travel on two adjacent edges of the polygon.
You need to add a cutout at the corner so all the treads do no join at exactly the same spot.
There is a minimum distance but that may be based on how many treads you have.

Exaggerated you need a shape something like this.
Also use a curve if you want winding treads.
Thanks for the reply!

Im trying out what you said but I don´t know how to make a curve. I only find straight lines or spline. When I make the line out of a spline the computer says "Improper line of travel. Define a line of travel which: starts on any edge of the fill polygon and ends on another not adjacent edge" But I have done that now so maybe a spline isn't possible to use.

How do you make the curve.

Thanks!

You must use arcs and lines not polylines or splines.
You can chamfer two lines to curve a corner or you can just use the arc/circle tool.
