Ghost wall showing, when turn layers off

Hi,

I have walls to be demolished and put them in a Demolished Layer, when I turn off that Layer and draw a Proposed Wall over it, sometimes the Demolished wall leaves a blank space where it was, I can't figure out how to make it completely disappear when the layer is turned off?

Sounds like you might have 'Trace & Reference' turned on?

In layer combinations there is a number.
this is the intersection group number for a layer.
Archicad will calculate intersections of walls on hidden layers of the same group number.

if you change the group number of the layer to a different number(say 2), then it will not intersect with anything on a layer with the original group number(1)

this is why people set up layer combinations, and view sets, to control these group numbers.

by default i would make everything that is turned off a different number from layers that are visible (say 99 for hidden layers).

theses numbers are not priorities, they are just a groups.

Sorry - nothing to do with Trace & Reference.
I mis-read that it was leaving a ghost line behind - I think I need more sleep.

You should look at the Renovation Filter for handing Existing/Demo/New construction, it has many advantages over the old Layer method.

Thanks for the help -I changed the layer combination no. reference and worked!

David - I do need to learn the renovation filter, I've just got to take the time to learn it.
