myles wrote:
a wall in to a complex profile

What do you mean by that? You are using a wall as an operator in a SOE operation with another wall? If that is the case, you will need them to be on layers that have a different <S></S>Intersection Group<E></E>. This will prevent them from cutting each other based on their <S></S>Building Material<E></E>.

I have "SOE" layers in each of my projects that have an <S></S>Intersection Group<E></E> of 0 so that they do not even intersect with each other.
It looks like both of your images are the same so I can't see the before SEO shot.

I think the problem is because the complex profile wall (grey curved wall) wraps around the other wall with the windows.
So as it is both above and below the wall you want to keep in the centre, it can't properly determine what is an upward or downward extrusion.
The only remedy I can think of is to have 2 complex profile walls.
One for the top section above the wall you want to cut, and another for the bottom below the wall you want to cut.
They should join seamlessly on the vertical potion of the profiles so long as they touch each other.

Then you should be able to SEO successfully.

I am not 100% sure on what you are trying to trim.
If it is the wall in the centre of the wall you have selected, then you will need to break the curved complex wall into at least 2 sections - upper and lower.

If that is not it, then can you show an image before the SEO and highlight what you want to trim?
Hi Barry thanks for your interest and help....

the curved wall and roof is a standard complex profile which is made of two part ... the image attached shows the wall moved outwards from the complex profile part... as soon as I put it into position it vanishes from view

the second shot shows the wall in place but is has dissapeared from view... ...

Any help on this s very much appreciated...
Try changing the layer your profile is on to one with a different <S></S>Intersection Group<E></E> to the rest of your walls. If the reference line of your wall is joining to that of your profile, it might be trimming.
What happens when you move both your normal walls and your profile away from the neighbouring buildings? This is a very different situation with a slightly similar outcome, but I have had in the past walls disappear leaving the windows floating in space when reference lines of different walls intersect in mirrored modules.
I am not entirely sure without trying to set this all up.
Your curved roof is actually a wall and of course walls will automatically try to trim/join each other vertically when the reference lines touch.
So that may be why that wall disappears - it is trimming at the corner vertically but because the 'roof' has a curved top it may be complicating things a bit.

The tall curved wall doesn't touch the 'roof' reference line so is not being trimmed.

You could make the 'roof' a complex profile beam or just place it in a different layer to the other walls.
Then in the layers ensure those two wall layers have different intersection priority numbers - so they don't trim each other.

Then if you do want to trim anything you can use Solid Element Operations.
You may still have to split up the 'roof' complex profile as I showed before though so there are upper and lower separate profiles.

It seems both Ling and I think it is because the wall reference lines are touching and therefore they are trimming automatically.
I am pretty sure that is the case.

Changing the roof profile to a beam and placing it again with the beam tool should fix it i think.
