<T>How do you draw the pattern in the screenshot using the curtain wall grid pattern? All columns seem to have the same width in the AC tool.</T>

Create a Pattern that has a Grid Line everywhere there is a Frame anywhere in that direction, both horizontally and vertically. Then, when the Curtain Wall is created it will have a lot of Frames you don't want. You can select the Curtain Wall, enter Edit Mode, select all those unnecessary Frame one by one, and either 1.) delete them or 2.) set them to the "Invisible" Frame type.
Which one of the two options you choose depends on what you want to achieve.
1. If you delete the Frame, the two panels on the two sides of the deleted Frame will be merged and will become one panel. Base on the screenshot this is what you wish to achieve.
2. If you set the Frame to "Invisible", the two panels on the two sides of the Frame will not be merged, they will be individual panels, separated by an invisible Frame.
