No, but they have shared the same parent company for many years now: Nemetschek.

In December 2006, Nemetschek acquired 54.3% of Graphisoft shares:

I have wondered, ever since the purchase, will the two applications ever merge into one with the advantages of each? There used to be speculation years ago about the two Being combined.

Archicad is a great software, they just need to settle down some things:
1. stairs
2. ability to change lineweight thickness per elevational/sectional views (like Revit does)
3. their PenSets are freakin' voodoo-bim.
4. their schedules, powerful but the way you have to enter criteria, etc.. is a nightmare.

other than that...it's a pretty good software.

The mind-blowing complexity and expense of merging two totally different applications aside - Nemetschek has supposedly been letting each of its subsidiaries continue to operate on their own.

Under Nemetschek's parent umbrella, we have seen the Cinerender engine come to ARCHICAD from the Maxon Cinema 4D product line, as one example of the benefits of being under the same parent.

Well ...Karl, I beg to differ on this one.
The Cinerender engine, I suppose once you get used to it, is valued but....for the so-called promoted "awesome quality and quick renderings"...dunno bout that. Everytime I go into rendering something...it's a bit of hassle where I get "yellow" tones that I somehow can't seem to figure out just where to control that 'yellowing' sun color effect.

I suppose this "GRAPHISOFT is now part of Vectorworks" rumor comes from the fact that last week Sean Flaherty, former CEO of Vectorworks, was appointed Chief Strategy Officer of the Nemetschek Group:

Someone must have had good imagination and thought this equals GRAPHISOFT now being part of Vectorworks.
But this is not the case. All brands remain independent within the Nemetschek Group. Both ARCHICAD and Vectorworks are successful brands. They do compete with each other in certain market segments and they also compete with the rest of the industry players like Revit or AutoCAD Architecture, etc.
