topic Using Archicad 19 Template on Archicad 20? in Modeling

<T>Hi Friends,

As I have recently started using Archicad, I have seen many posts or blogs stressing the importance of a template.

A friend of mine had kindly shared me his template, however, he uses archicad 19 and his template is version 19 and I am using archicad 20.

I am just wondering if there would be any problems for me to use it, or what are some of the things I need to watch out for when using a template from an older version.

Tips and knowledge is appreciated very much.

Cheers,

You shouldn't have too much trouble using the 19 template in 20.
Have a look in the reference manual an look at the 'New Features' section and you will see all the differences you will need to take into consideration.

The main one I can think of is that Graphic Overrides are new in 20.
It will automatically create new GO combinations and rules based on the original 19 MVO settings so you probably won't have any problems but you may want to look at them and see what they do. And possible rename them based on what they do as you will find they will be named based on the old MVO combinations and the name may not relate to what they do now (basically turning on/off fills and zone colours).

You may also want to swap from the 19 library to 20.
Hi Barry, thanks for explaining, thats good to hear, since then I could use his template to save me some time

I haven't gotten a good grasp on using MVO and graphic overrides, but I will keep your response in mind when I get on to using them.

Cheers,
