Barry, thank You for moving the thread and especially for this hint below!
I wouldn't suppose it's so easy, You helped me a lot.

One question - is it possible to draw a line first and then merge it as a section line , so it's more precise or I just need to draw the dome first and then edit the section on the 3d model ?

<T>Hi all,

I have a problem with creating a dome like the one in the picture.
I know how to make a segmented dome/roof using shell tool (octogonal) but I still don't know how to do it with specified section (so the section-arc would be concave).

I appreciate any hints,
thanks</T>

Now all you need to do is select the dome in 3D (or section/elevation) and edit the shell profile to get the shape you want.
Yes you can draw the profile first - you just need to choose the 'Detailed" construction method.

Go to the HELP menu and open the Archicad YouTube Channel.
There you will find many short movies for "Archicad 15 Shells" - 15 is the version when the shell tool was introduced.

Or here is a link to the HelpCentre if you can't get the YouTube Channel to work.
