The profile you have created can be stretched wider but not narrower.
try to model it at what you anticipate the narrowest section to be and then
you can stretch it to the wider profile.

<T>Hello

Made a simple L shape profile that I need one section to stretch horizontally in plan. Meaning ( start off at 1m then taper down to .5m ) I enable the horizontal stretch and placed the lines where to control the stretch, but when back in the model is there a click I am missing to vary this width?

Or is this a variable width profile, does that even work, I know with walls it does.</T>

The only way to get it to taper would be to SEO out the tapered portion.
depending on your needs, you could also create it with 2 slabs see attached.
