So, my problem has been complete without making thread. Now, I can make the roof transparent on top of the roof.

<T>I'm trying to cut a hole in the roof for a court yard, but the roof is obscuring the trace reference.

Is there any way to make the roof transparent or overlay the trace reference on top of the roof?</T>

There is also the "Make Fills and Zones transparent" button at the bottom of the Trace Reference Palette. If you activate if you will see the Trace Reference even it is covered by the Roof's Cover Fill.
