<T>This is a minor issue but still annoying. Every time I create a new worksheet grid snap is automatically turned on. Is this a bug in Archicad or is it connected to the the template file I'm using or the work environment settings or what? Anyone out there recognizing this?</T>

I had the same problem but in the profile manager view (yes is nothing important but annoying ) I solved by turning the snap grid off by the menu not in the interface icon.
View> Grid and Editing plane options> Grids and Background
It looks like when you change it there it makes it default for the type of view or something like that.

PD: I remember that happens to me, because I was playing around in AC

Thank you very much arqrivas, that solved the problem! I found that it has to be switched off not in the plan view before I create my first new worksheet but in an active worksheet window. After that grid snap stays deactivated when creating more worksheets.
Very interesting guys.

So to summarize for everyone else:

How to turn OFF Grid Display by default in Viewpoints.

Viewpoint types have separate Grid Display settings so this series of steps needs to be performed in every Viewpoint type that displays Grid.

1. Go to the Floor Plan Viewpoint.
2. Activate the Grids & Background Dialog.
3. Click the Grid Display OFF button and click the OK button to accept changes.
Note: setting the "Grid Display" command in the menu will not achieve this same result, it will simply turn off the Grid display in the current Viewpoint but it does not affect future Viewpoints.
4. Create at least one Section Viewpoint and go to that Viewpoint.
5. Repeat steps 2. and 3. while in the Section Viewpoint. The result is that all newly created Section Viewpoints will have Grid turned OFF in them.
6. Repeat steps 4. and 5. for Elevation Viewpoints, Interior Elevation Viewpoints, Worksheet Viewpoints, Detail Viewpoints and 3D Document Viewpoints as well.

After doing this you may delete the Viewpoints you have created just for this purpose if needed. The Grid Setting will be kept by ARCHICAD even if no Viewpoints of that type exists in the Project File.
This same procedure can be done in Template Files as well.
