He's acting like a very professional designer, btw. He's willing to learn, but not at the expense of a job (not) done. He'll use his spare time to do the learning, while using v9 workspace for production untill confident enough with 11. This makes loads of sense due to enormous loads we carry at the moment. There is no time to spare for training, playing about and such other nonsense. Hence the question.

I'll try that v9 exporting thing.

Is the workspace data crossplatform ? He's on mac i'm on pc.

Haven't try myself, but try to export your "Work environment" in AC9 and then import it in AC11, it works from AC9 to AC10.
In theory you could, except that absolutely non of AC11s features would be visible because all of the commands would not be visible in any toolbars or menus.

Tell your colleague to stop acting like a 5 year old.The way Archicad 11 looks is the way that future versions are going to look like as well. Unless he plans on staying on AC9 the rest of his life, he's going to have to learn it eventually.

Don t listen to him (tom). Stay at AC9 until they deside to fix all those problems at AC11 (there many).

threedee wrote:
I'll try that v9 exporting thing.
Please do listen to Tom. he's one of the most experienced CAD managers in this forum. But - don't upgrade to AC11 until you'll be starting a new project. It's foolish to do it in the middle of a project, especially if you have a deadline approaching.

I'm an old dog, but I personnally always start with the new default workspace when I start working in a new version. I find that's the easiest way to get to know the new features the way Graphisoft intended. Then I customize.

This approach of course slows me down in the beginnting. Maybe a day or two, sometimes more, but I find it a complete waste of money to upgrade if I don't try to use the new features ASAP. With the old workspace I could just as well skip the upgrade as well. There are people still working in Archicad 7 or older. If that makes them happy, OK. There are those still only working with pencils and straightedges too - I've got two of them in my own office!

I don t intend to be insolent... the matter is, what the software can do for you and not what you can do with it. That for we all asking for wishes. If graphisoft don t listen or listening wrong people, i am fine...
I am not the only who said that after AC9 the soft is worst. As you see from signature i start with AC early 90's with 3.(sometthing) on Mac , until AC10 (Not AC11), so i think i can compare all of them.
I am sorry, don't mean to offend ALL of you.
