Temporary Hide/Isolate Equivalent?

<T>Is there an equivalent tool/option within Archicad to temporarily hide/isolate elements?

During my previous Revit workflow I found it helpful to temporarily hide or isolate element(s), especially when the model/drawing starts to get congested.</T>

Great thanks @Rogerdodge

Is the best workflow for hiding single elements to move them to a 'hide' layer and then back again?

Just click hide then when you want to display again, click the little curvy arrow in the bottom right corner of the palette.
This palette is one of the most useful tools in AC & its surprising how many users dont know it exists.

I sat next to a lady at upgrade training last year who saw me using it & had never seen it before, she had been using AC since version 10.
Eric Bobrow told me about it.

The quick layers palette is great if you want to hide all elements in the same layer as the single element you want to hide.
If you want to hide just that one layer then yes you have to change it's layer to one that is hidden.

If you don't mind the element still being on the screen you can also lock it.
This can be done for a single element - EDIT menu > locking (in the quick layer palette it again locks the entire layer).
Then there is no danger of editing or deleting that element.
Is there any equivalent in ARCHICAD to SketchUp's "hide" and "unhide" function? The great thing about SketchUp's hide & unhide is that it was independent of the object's layers. So that if I was working in 3D and wanted to hide the roof above, I could hide it by using this command, but the roof adjacent (on the same layer), would not be hidden.

There isn't a dedicated function like that but you can select everything, deselect the stuff you don't want to see, right click and select "show selected/marquee in 3d" and it will hide the deselected objects regardless of layer.
