Splayed Door Wall Reveal "AND" Arched top?

basically I need:
1. to have an arched top door (no prob theres one in the library)
2. to have a wall reveal with splayed enclosure openings

How do I accomplish this?

Create a "splayed arch top" on the door.

so...here's something "close" to what I need.
according to the graphics being depicted in the pulldown menu...it appears a "custom reveal" can indeed be created for an opening and an opening with an "arched top" none the less.................HOW.
How can a custom reveal be done?
How can then the custom reveal be selected to be part of the opening parameters?

I found this article but...Holy 773H........it's like reading a "stereo manual" when I try to understand this explanation.
This is what I need. i can then make that 1'-2" thick wall into 3 walls (each comprising of 3 components - 1 compenent in the middle will house the arched door, the other 2 components will be the walls that host the reveal with splayed opening)....but holy cow...it's 'stereo manual reading' 101 all over again....

If I were doing this, I would put in the arched door. Then, draw a Morph in plan on one side (although I guess you could do both at once) in the shape of the desired reveal, and extrude the morph around the door perimeter using the "tube" option. Then SEO out the morph(s).

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EGdK-D7zXY for an example with an applied trim, but it would work the same way with an inset morph as an SEO operator.

humm...that's a good idea Richard.
what I did was to put a "void space" object where it's in a layer that SEO out of the wall. but I'm going to try the "morph" around the wall idea.

wow...never thought a curved arched top door with splayed edges at the jambs would cause this much grief.....just wow.

Yeah, that Help Center article from 2012 was before the Morph tool was introduced, so I'm with Richard on the extruded Morph solution.

In particular, this kind of arch would often be framed by standard carpenters/framing to the edge of the splay, and then custom hand framing for the splayed reveal/arch - and modeling that part as a Morph captures that it is an extra construction step. If you want to justify the amount of work. 🙂

Rob - Your result looks great. You can make the diagonal line inside the Morph splay in your screenshot invisible, should you be generating views/drawings similar to the screenshot.

thanks Karl, but that "line" you see diagonally..it's not coming from the morph rather its coming from a SEO operation by where I created a wedge-shaped morph (it's the shape of the negative space i want to subtract out from the wall) then I put that morph in a layer called "VOID SPACE" (which I absolutely HATE doing by the way - to have 'floating stuff' in the model that is only on layers that are turned off so you can 'see' the result of the subtractive operation from the wall) so I'm not sure I can make that diagonal line invisible.

You should be able to by editing the morph in your hidden layer.
Change your selection too to 'Sub-element' selection (or just hold CTRL+SHIFT when selecting), select the diagonal line and change it to a hidden edge type.
