Solid Element Operations

I'm trying to understand Solid Element Operations.
I have a pline (Operator) in plan to turn up in the z direction and cutout my shape from a pair of back to back tapered walls (Target) (to make a fireplace shape) by Subtraction.
Is this the right way to do it?

I notice that there have been 28 views and no responses, so here goes.
First I need to ask some questions.
What is a "pline" ? What platform are you on ? What version of AC ?
Whatever a "pline" is it is apparently not a valid element to be an operator.
If you are simply trying to make a half hexagon firebox then just draw
the shape with a polywall. If, as you say, you are using the modeling of
this this object (fireplace) to understand SEO then the above questions
are relevant.

Sorry. I meant polyline. Not a clear question.

I'm trying to extrude or cut out a shape (roughly the state of idaho from a map) from a wall that will represent the masonry in a river rock fireplace.

You will need to make a slab that matches the polyline shape, by using the magic wand. Give it an ID of wallhole, then looking directly down on it in the 3D window, save it as an object (window, or even door). Then insert it as a window.

I think that's what your'e after. See the attached image. Couldn't help but pinpoint the best place in Idaho - Ketchum! Oh how I miss it!

Thank you Link. My client is building in Council. I hope to get over there soon.
For the fireplace, I'm looking for Idaho in the positive. Is there a way to save a slab or mesh so that it can be insterted 'upright'?

That would be best done with a custom profile and the beam or wall tool.

"looking directly down on it" may be a bit confusing, no? Try: Custom part instructions for something similar.

Thanks so much for the help guys. I needed the hints to understand how to make custom objects.
Archicad is incredible!
see attached (excuse the bad lighting and rendering settings... still learning that stuff too)
